Her majesty Queen Elizabeth II will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years on the throne. To mark the occasion, there will be a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022. With 2,429 public events and 2,653 street parties or private events shared online so far across Britain, you cannot be bored.

With this in mind and with high hopes that the weather will also be kind, please see below a few local events:

  • Siston Parish Council present live music and performances on the stage, market stalls, a bar and food stalls. At 14:38 there will be a spit fire fly past!! The celebration will end at 9pm. These celebrations are in Warmley Forest Park, just around the corner from us. New World Business Centre offered the use of the car park to help with the smooth running of this event.   • Wick Village are Holding a Jubilee Beacon lighting event in Brockwell Park at 8:15pm on Thurs 2nd Jun, and a Family Funday with picnic, stalls, Dog show, circus skills, games, live music and entertainment from 12:30 – 8 pm on Fri 3rd Jun. More details: https://www.wickabsonpcgov.uk/

  • Local residents in nearby Bitton are hosting the Big Lunch on the green in the middle of a housing estate. Details of the event can be found on Facebook- search for The Big Jubilee Lunch on the green.

  • Drop into Emerson’s Green Library during the school holiday to pick up a Jubilee Competition sheet to design your own Jubilee tea set or take part in the Jubilee Treasure Hunt. Prizes will be awarded for the best tea set design, and you can win a sticker if you solve the treasure hunt. There will also be Jubilee Celebration coffee morning to celebrate with coffee, cakes and conversation. And let’s not forget the Jolly Jubilee crafts where you can relax and have fun making crafts, an event suitable for primary school aged children and their families.
